Refund policy
Livestock DOA Policy
We guarantee live arrival for all fish, coral, and invertebrates. If you receive a DOA (Dead on Arrival), contact us immediately at help@mnaquatics.com to request a credit refund. Please include clear, photos of the item in the original, unopened bag. Photos should be taken from multiple angles under white lighting.
DOA reports must be sent within 6 hours of package delivery to ensure timely care. Package must have been brought inside within 30 minutes of arrival. Please include clear photos of the item in the original, unopened bag.
DOA claims may not accepted if the bag has been opened prior to photographs being taken. Refunds may be full or partial based on individual circumstances.
Livestock Guarantee
We guarantee the survival of all fish, corals, and invertebrates for up to 48 hours in a properly maintained, non-aggressive environment. Credits for losses will vary from 50–100% depending on the circumstances. Please take a photo of the item before contacting us in case one is requested. Photos can be emailed to us or texted to our store phone number.
To be eligible for the guarantee:
- Fish must be acclimated in a cycled aquarium and show no signs of physical damage. We may request water testing results. The guarantee may not apply if certain medications were used. The guarantee may not be valid depending on other tank inhabitants.
- Corals must be kept in a cycled aquarium with approved lighting. We may request tests for salinity, alkalinity, nitrate, phosphate, and calcium. Loss due to improper setup, acclimation, or damage from other tank inhabitants is not covered. The guarantee may not be valid if your tank contains any species of angelfish, butterflyfish, or other corallivores.
- Invertebrates like crabs, shrimp, and snails must be drip-acclimated. Losses caused by other tank inhabitants or improper care, such as becoming stuck or escaping, are not covered.
Certain items may not eligible for the guarantee, including:
- Items marked “expert only”, or certain pufferfish, boxfish, butterflyfish, non-dwarf angelfish, seahorses, scorpionfish, anglerfish, chromis, anthias, starfish, clams, scallops, feather dusters, or cucumbers, may only qualify for a partial refund due to their notorious difficulty acclimating to new environments, if not done with advanced care.
- Items sold at a discount due to blemishes or other expressed reasons.
- Purchases or actions made against the advice of our staff. If a team member has expressed concerns about compatibility or care requirements for a particular livestock item, our guarantee does not apply.
Livestock Return Policy
We cannot accept returns on any fish, coral, or invertebrate. Livestock may be traded in for credit, typically 20–40% of retail value. Exceptions may apply, please contact us first if you need to bring in livestock.
Dry Stock Return Policy
We offer a 30-day return policy on dry stock. Returns require an original receipt, complete packaging, and all included parts. Frozen and refrigerated items cannot be returned unless visibly defective. Opened boxes may or may not be accepted, or a restock fee may apply.
To initiate a return, contact us at help@mnaquatics.com or bring the item to our store.

Livestock refunds are typically issued as store credit or rewards points, reflected in your MN Aquatics account.
