Home grown copepods, freshly bottled. Strained at 50 microns to include both baby and adult pods. Each bottle is topped off with freshly mixed, clean saltwater at 1.025sg. Pods will last up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, but it is recommended to use the entire bottle right away.
What type of pods should you choose?
Tigriopus sp. "Tigs" - These large copepods are actually a cold water species, but they are a great nutritious treat for your fish and corals.
Tisbe sp. - Smaller copepods, but super prolific in aquariums. Great for cleanup and cycling, as well as consistent food supply for smaller fish like mandarins. Corals also love them!
Apocyclops sp. - Another species of small copepods, very similar to Tisbe. Add some diversity to your copepod population!
How much do you need?
There's no way to overdose pods, and they will reproduce on their own in a healthy aquarium! Here is our recommendation for how many bottles you may need -
For new tanks - One 16oz bottle of copepods per 20 gallons, as well as dosing a food source such as phytoplankton to prevent die-off.
For existing tanks to replenish populations - One 16oz bottle per 40 gallons. Dose phytoplankton to keep populations stable!
When feeding fish such as dragonets - Did you know dragonets will eat thousands of copepods a day? One bottle can only sustain a dragonet for a few days. We strongly recommend dosing phytoplankton to keep pod populations healthy in tanks with dragonets. Still not enough? Ask us about how to culture them yourself!
To culture your own - One 16oz bottle will be sufficient to start a 1 gallon culture. Select one species only to prevent competition in your cultures.
